E-Bay Tutorial |
General instructions
to add your PiXi movie to your ebay listing:
(if you need more detailed instructions about making jpegs, uploading
files, etc., there are very good seller tutorials on the ebay
site)
- Make a jpeg picture
of your object for the thumbnail view on Ebay.
- Make your PiXi
movie, save as a .mov file
- Upload the .jpg
and the PiXi movie (.mov) file to your own server space.
(You cannot use Ebay for this, your Ebay page must pull the graphics
from your own server)
- Helpful Ebay info
and resources on uploading to your server
- Go to the Ebay
"sell
item" entry form.
- Enter the info
required at Ebay (you will have to become a "registered user"
and supply a credit card number) and copy/paste the following code into
the "Description" field on Ebay's "sell Item" form.
After you paste the code into Ebay's description field be sure to replace
the text below in RED with the name of YOUR DOMAIN or webhost,
(or the address of the space your ISP gives you) and the appropriate
FILE NAME where you have uploaded your movie file. You may add your
own text in front of this code in the same field as well, if you would
like to include some descriptive text with these images.
<table border="0"
cellspacing="0" cellpadding="6">
<tr align="center">
<td><a href="#" onClick="window.open('http://www.yourdomain.com/your_movie.mov',
'OpenWindow','toolbar=no,width=300,height=300,menubar=no,status=no,scrollbars=no')">
<img src="http://www.kaidan.com/images/See_3d.gif" width="124"
height="72" border="0" alt="Object Movie"></a><br>
<font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="1">
(Requires <a href="http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/"
target="_blank">
Free QuickTime Plug-In</a>)</font></td>
</tr>
<tr align="center">
<td><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"
size="1"><b>Created
with <img src="http://www.kaidan.com/images/kaidan_logo_sm.gif"
width="72" height="23" align="absbottom"
alt="Kaidan">
<br>

</tr>
</table>
The result on Ebay will look like this:
- Optionally change
the dimensions of your movie to your actual movie's dimensions: in the
code above, you will see after the movie's URL, width=300 and height=300.
If you would like this movie to open at exactly your movie's dimesions,
you need to change this setting to your dimensions. Otherwise, the movie
always opens at 300 x 300. Ignore this step if you don't want to change
it.
- In the "Picture
URL" box on Ebay's form, enter the following code, replacing your
own domain name and your own picture name (not the movie file here,
the .jpg file) where it says "yourdomain",
and "yourpicture.jpg"
<img src="http://www.yourdomain.com/yourpicture.jpg">
for instance, your address might be:
<img src="http://www.members.aol.com/screenname/my_picture.jpg">
The following are
the recommended guidelines for images on Ebay:
- Picture dimensions
should be no more than 300 x 300 pixels
- Recommended file
size is between 10-25K
- Maximum file-size
should be 50K compressed or less than 200K uncompressed
- To be seen in Ebay's
Gallery the files must be .jpg, .bmp, or .tif
(.gifs will not work in the gallery)
