Why do you need a
Panoramic Tripod Head?
A
panoramic tripod head performs several functions. First, it has
the necessary adjustments to locate and lock the optical center,
or nodal point, of your camera directly over the pivot axis of the
head. This is important since it minimizes the parallax error; which
makes it more difficult to accurately stitch your images together.
Secondly, the
tripod head conveniently positions the camera in the portrait orientation.
A taller image produces a panorama with a wider vertical
field of view.
Lastly, Kaidan
tripod heads have many unique features, such as click-stops and
leveling aids, to streamline the production of panoramic or immersive
images.
Buying
a Panoramic Tripod Head?
Kaidan
is the leading manufacturer of panoramic tripod heads for many reasons.
Since immersive imaging technology is all that we do, our products
are not built-up from standard parts, but instead, engineered
from the start for a specific application.
We also listen
very closely to our customers and continue to refine and enhance
our products.
If youre in the market for a panoramic tripod head, here are
a few things you might want to consider before you make your final
decision...
How
easy is it to index from shot to shot?
Our
KiWi-L heads have a quick and easily indexed friction joint, while
our KiWi+ and QuickPan models use convenient, selectable click-stops.
You simply rotate and click from stop to stop - with
no need to lock, rotate, loosen, rotate and lock a mechanism. Our
QuickPans offer a total of 10 positions (5 per disc, 2nd disc optional)
and our KiWi+ has indexing discs with positions from two through
twenty-two.
How
easy is it to check for proper level?
We
use twin-axis bubble levels that can be viewed from the side, even
when placed slightly above eyelevel. With a circular bubble level,
you need to be directly over the unit in order to level it.
How
easy is it to actually level the unit?
We
offer a micro-fine tilt adjustment capability to make it easy to
level the unit. Conventional pan/tilt heads often fight against
you when making a fine adjustment.
Does
the tripod head support optional attachments thus preserving your
original investment?
Our
QuickPan Magnum units support a number of accessories and we plan
to offer additional add-on products and options in the near future.
Examples include: pedestal sets for object movie creation, quick-release
plates, stereo dual camera brackets, etc.
Will
the head support a wide range of cameras?
Yes!
Our QuickPan heads will even accomodate many camcorders (e.g. Sony
VX-1000).
Do
you need tools or lubricants?
Not
with any Kaidan head. All Kaidan fasteners are captive and can be
easily operated by hand. Lubricants, something you dont want
around your camera, are not required.
Can
you purchase a complete, bundled solution?
Kaidan
offers a number of programs where you can also purchase the most
popular immersive imaging software at a significantly reduced price
(e.g. Apple QTVR Authoring Studio, iSeeMedia's Reality Studio).
Will
you be able to get technical support?
At
Kaidan, were here to answer questions that you might have,
at no charge. Were also active on the popular online forums
and actively sponsor events and activities. We will be shortly introducing
an online web service to help photographers and immersive imaging
developers advertise and promote their work.
These are
just a few important features that set Kaidan and our products apart
from the crowd. If you have any questions, comments or concerns,
