The
Kaidan KiWi-L is our most affordable VR panhead, bringing digital
photographic panoramas to an even wider audience. It's the perfect
complement to the latest generation of easy-to-use and affordable
QuickTime® VR applications such as, PictureWorks Spin Panorama,
VRToolBox's VRPanoWorx and iSeeMedia's Photovista.
Together, KiWi-L and applications provide a complete solution
that is ideal for anyone interested in adding QuickTime® VR panoramas
to their websites, e-mail and multimedia applications.

The KiWi-L
consists of two intersecting black anodized aluminum struts that
adjust and lock to accommodate the nodal points of a wide range
of digital and conventional cameras, such as the Apple QuickTake
100/150/200, Kodak DC50, APS film cameras and 35mm SLR cameras equipped
with 15mm lenses. The KiWi-L comes with the same twin-axis
bubble level found on the QuickPan Magnum Series heads. When unlocked,
the KiWi-L disassembles into two relatively flat pieces that
store easily in your camera bag.
|
In general, the adjustment range of the KiWi-L supports cameras with
a tripod mounting thread-to-nodal point distance of 4 3/8 inches (111 mm)
and a camera mounting surface-to-nodal point distance of 5 1/4 inches (133
mm). Two measurement scales are provided for both axes, so it's easy to
set and record the dimensions for any camera and lens combination.
Mounting your camera
to the KiWi-L is easy. Simply choose the appropriate mounting slot
on the upright bracket and use the clamping knob to secure the camera.
Although the clamping knob is removable and can be placed in any of the
three mounting slots, it's a captive fastener so it will stay attached
to the unit at all times.
KiWi-L attaches
to any standard tripod and camera equipped with a standard 1/4-20 mounting
thread. KiWi-L uses a specially designed friction joint that provides
smooth & consistent drag while indexing the camera. A label on the
base provides a clear indication of the location and increment angle of
the camera. As always, the KiWi-L comes with a 30-day return policy. (Note:
some restocking fees may apply.)
A Landscape
Bracket (QPLB-1) for repositioning the camera can also be used with
the KiWi-L and KiWi+ in order to position the camera in a landscape orientation.
